As a current science student, I've always pondered whether it was the right decision to make - considering art has always been my
raison d'être. The two ideas are on the opposite sides of the spectrum; one deals with logic and reasoning, while the other
challenges the mind to make daring leaps in the realm of creativity. It seems impossible to combine the two together without some great release of madness. But somehow, Ariel Ruiz has done it. He's made art that is connected to science - take for example, the human face above composed of what appears to be cells. Side note: he's a scientist too. Actually, I would argue that science requires as much creativity as, well, art.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing is it's much more technical about what you can and can't do, but it's a something as well that must be mastered, much like stroke technique. :)
Btw the art is eerie, reminds me of things I'd rather not think about. Earthly.
DeleteI definitely agree with you on every aspect regarding science needing creativity (how would innovation come about then?). But the thing is, I feel as if most people (HMM fb argument) think that science doesn't need anything from art. Facepalm.
DeleteI guess it's pretty cool, but my first reaction was, "That's just creepy", which I still kind of feel.
