RIP

RIP Toph, Aang, and Earth Kingdom pumpkin.
The good die young. I miss you guys.
----
I finally got out of the dungeon I call my room to celebrate Halloween with some classmates! This included a haunted house (which I didn't go in but I probably would have hit someone bahaha) and pumpkin carving. I made a good Earth Kingdom pumpkin, and a messy Toph pumpkin.
The best part of the night? Throwing the pumpkins from the balcony of a building (don't worry we weren't causing shenanigans). Such good therapy.

Hope y'all had a fantastic Halloween!

Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posting these days. I can sum up the last few weeks with a conversation with my aunt:

Aunt: "You look so tired, what happened?"
Me: "Life happened."

That's right, I've been busy at school. As a Bio major, my life revolves around reading, reading, and more reading. It's hard, but I love my bacterial cells! If I can keep being a shut-in this up, I'll reach my goal for next year. :)

And there's some work too. And some volunteering (I love frosh). And then my internship is getting started as well. My first year English courses have led to terrible sentence structure (I don't even think these are sentences), money well-spent. Brb, mastering the art of organic chem.

One Year Older, One Year Wiser (?)

[Looks like it's a party for one]

Keep Moving

Feeling lazy on a nice day is a bad sign. I should probably head out for a run. Then again, I did do my first Grouse Grind run with A yesterday (1 hour and 8 minutes for my first time, very pleased). Which was quite wet and foggy. Surprise surprise, we live in Rain City. Thanks A, for bearing with me and telling me to slow down! I probably would have lost any motivation to keep moving somewhere after the halfway point.

*Brb, doing quick painting of a character before I get back to TforT (my new shorthand). I leave you with these two great videos. If you don't smile AT LEAST, we can't be internet friends anymore.

Kisses From Spring

So apparently today was the first day of spring. I honestly beg to differ, since today was : cold, cloudy and dead (no flowers, I'm sad). But the sun came out for a bit and it didn't rain, so it's kind of bearable. Especially since I got to wear my yellow and green peeptoe flats, chyeah! :) (pictures to come)

I trudged through my math midterm (engineering math sucks, never take it unless you like to torture yourself), now I have to wait until the TAs finish marking it (yikes). Hopefully my GPA won't drop too much let me cry in the corner.

On another note, I've been going through an electronic/ indie phase in my music life, and I just HAVE to share my current electronic favourites:

-Lack of A Better Name by deadmau5 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_x2Hx48L_A
-Lick The Rainbow by Mord Fustang : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wkC8vWbFm8

(I still can't seem to properly link things properly on blogger, please accept my incompetence while I search for html help pages haha!)

Pictures With My Eyes

I've always wanted to take pictures with my eyes, since my good ol' (note sarcasm) Nikon point and shoot has some issues. Never ever ever ever buy my model (some coolpix), despite how cheap it is. End rant. Other than that, I went on a nice walk and snapped some photos with a friend after a mentally exhausting lecture. The sun has been making some appearances this week, and hopefully it'll stay like this for a little longer. I already see some flowers beginning to bloom, spring is coming (HOORAY)!

I may or may not be addicted to the selective colour function on my camera.

One of my favourite necklaces, a pocket watch! :)

I don't usually like blurry pictures, but there's something about the softness that makes me not want to curse at my camera and/or skills.

Midterms are in full swing, and I'll do my best to post some outfit, food, and art (because heck, I've been neglecting my beloved sketchbook :( ) photos over the next few weeks.

Lots of love,
Jennifer

P.S. I probably will and risk my GPA in doing so because photography has now become an addiction. Note that I am also addicted to wearing my boots.

The Little Things

TGIF. This week has been a rough ride for a couple reasons, but I'm glad to have made it through sane (kind of). Here are the pictures I promised to post (taken on a Nikon point and shoot). These were all taken in the late afternoon, as the sun was setting after my Calculus lecture. Honestly, the camera doesn't do any of the pictures justice- aka I personally think it's a piece of junk, but poor university students can't be too picky eh?

A nice angle of the bridge of the university's Japanese garden. I'd love to take some shots with a friend when spring comes and the trees are in bloom. :)

My personal favourite of the day, there's something about the perspective that I particularly like (ignore the time stamp of doom).

(at this point I learned how to disable the annoying time stamp)

Okay, I promise that I wasn't trying to stalk these men, I just wanted to compare the size of them to the mountains and sky(worst explanation ever).

My feeble attempt to make an artistic shot with my necklace (gifted by my lovely sister) and my glasses. I'm trying! :(

Blog, meet my boots. Boots, meet my blog. I scored these babies during Boxing Day at Winners for about $30. There's something about the texture and lacing that makes me feel 110% more badass.

It was cold that day, and I was too stubborn foolish to put on my mitts. The result? Terribly numb and pink hands. And I am still doing this to myself. Sorry hands.

It's 1 in the morning and I have a ton of stuff to tackle over the weekend (and Chinese New Year is approaching too!), so I'll be hitting the hay. Or spending some more time on fb, then complaining. Thanks for bearing with the image heavy post! :)

August Rush pt.1

I can't believe August is slipping through my fingers so quickly! I've spent the last week and a half on a small family vacation and on a camping trip (I got back on Sunday). I did do some sketching, but I had a chance to take some lovely photos on both trips (let's just say I forgot my sketchbook at home at some point)! Here are some of the things I took... excuse the terrible quality of some of them, I have no idea how to use a fancy camera.

The pool at the hotel my family stayed at- it was sooo beautiful!

This was the marina; I played with the settings so it looks like cool creepy lights.

And, I have new feature for this blog..it's called "Eye Eat"
This is where I get to showcase the food I come across.
You see the pun? I'm so smart super duper lame eh?

And behold, the first Eye Eat!

It's laksa - a curry-like soup with vermicelli, vegetables, and seafood. Or at least that's the laksa my dad had (there's various types of laksa says wikipedia).

And the second Eye Eat too. It's vietnamese chicken noodle soup or pho ga. I'll be honest, it wasn't as crazy as I thought it'd be - the soup was lacking in flavour and the chicken wasn't too great either. On the bright side, I did get a good helping of vegetables in it!

That's it for now, stay tuned for part 2!

Who's that girl?

My photo
Hola, I'm an aspiring illustrator scientist (do those exist?) who occasionally dresses well. Lets be friends. :)
